Cornwall, Day 3 (Sea Glimpses)

My sweet bedroom on this middle floor has a window which I keep open, letting the fresh breezes flow over me at any given time. If you look quite closely you can see a scrap of ocean, out there. Here it is, in the middle:

That scrap is actually mere steps from here - you have only go out the door, turn right, then another quick right, descend a few cobbles, and there it is. Clear and blue and lovely.

You will also see some cottage guests above, sitting out on their veranda and enjoying the sun. The Brits love enjoying the sun! They will sit out there for ages, with heads bent slightly back, eyes closed, and soaking it all right in. It is why they come to Cornwall, and who can ever blame them? Certainly not me.

This cottage has four stories, dear Readers, and I am going to tell you about them: you come in the front door from the street, and find, to the left, a door which opens to the living room and sitting room. There is a wood burner (with a comfy chair) and a TV/sitting area further on where we can watch funny things such as 'Yes, Minister' and maybe even an episode of The Great British Bakeoff. The chairs and settees are overstuffed and pretty and sleepable.

Next I shall take you down to the basement floor where you will find the kitchen. It is a splendid kitchen, with table settings for six, and an actual AGA cooker. You can't get any better than an AGA cooker in England. Rosie, who has an AGA, and I, who used to have one, are delighted and she especially has fun puttering with it, making delightful dinners. There is also a 'wet' room just beyond the kitchen, which means there is a shower, WC, and sink, and I'm not sure what is 'wet' about it except that there is no shower curtain. It is lovely.

The next floor up from the ground floor will give you two bedrooms and another bathroom. The further bedroom has two twin beds, and the other has a double bed. They are cozy and are good places to stay in if you are feeling poorly.

Above this floor there is almost like a Robin's nest, so high is it. It contains a pretty room with beams, and a full bathroom with (more) beams. Guests must watch their heads for the beams which might conk you if you got up in the dark of night. Rosie brings cups of tea up to Ted in the morning, which means she climbs down 3 flights of stairs, makes the tea, puts it on a tray, then climbs the 3 flights back up again! Such kindness!

And so that, my dear Readers, is my cottage. Our cottage. There are four of us tucked in here with several days more to go. Maybe tomorrow the sun will still be out, and I will be able to be out in it!

See you along the way!
the SconeLady
